About The Great Divide
The Great Divide dropped on April 24, 2026. The rollout was a treasure hunt: a mystery TikTok account called thelastofthebugs, a nod to a lyric in The View Between Villages, started posting teasers, and he announced the album on January 28. He wrote it "next to a piano in Nashville, next to a pond in Guilford Vermont," with Aaron Dessner producing alongside Kahan and Gabe Simon, and Justin Vernon appears on it.
The title song was written in 2024 when he was burnt out from touring, and he's described it as being about two people who grew up together but didn't know each other as well as they thought. Dan, the closer, is about his lifelong friend from Strafford. Porch Light, Doors and Orbiter were the other singles.
It was his first US number one album, and The Last Of The Bugs deluxe followed on April 25 with Lighthouse, Staying Still, A Few Of Your Own and Orbiter. They're all in this sort. About six minutes.
