About Music of the Sun

Music of the Sun dropped on August 29, 2005, six months after she signed with Def Jam. She'd moved from Barbados to New York to live with Evan Rogers and his wife, and the sun in the title stands for the Caribbean and her.

Rogers and Carl Sturken made most of it, with Stargate on Let Me - the first of a lot of Stargate songs. It's dance-pop with reggae and dancehall in it, and Vybz Kartel and Kardinal Offishall are on it.

Pon de Replay was on her demo, and at first she didn't want to record it because it felt "sing-songy". It went to number two in the US and the UK. The Last Time is one of the songs she sang at her Def Jam audition, and You Don't Love Me (No, No, No) is a Dawn Penn cover.

It debuted at number 10 in the US and went Platinum. Twelve songs, about three minutes.
