Rated R Song Sorter

About Rated R

Rated R dropped in November 2009. She started on it a month after the 2009 Grammys, when she'd been assaulted by Chris Brown, and it's darker than anything she'd made before - gothic, with dubstep and rock in it. She co-executive produced it herself.

It was made in New York, London, Paris and LA with Chuck Harmony, The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, Stargate, Justin Timberlake and Chase & Status. She said "if Lil Wayne and Kings of Leon like my album, then I'll feel good."

Russian Roulette was the first single, Hard has Jeezy, and Rude Boy spent five weeks at number one. Slash plays guitar on Rockstar 101. The Last Song was recorded in the last 12 hours before the album was due: "I just drank some red wine, dimmed the lights, got in the booth and sang it." One story is that the Navy got its name from a lyric in G4L.

It debuted at number four with 181,000, her biggest first week at the time. I think it's her most underrated album. Thirteen songs, about three minutes.
