FLOWERS for VASES / descansos Song Sorter

About FLOWERS for VASES / descansos

FLOWERS for VASES / descansos dropped on February 5, 2021, and she only announced it the day before. She's called it "a prequel or some sort of detour" between the two Petals for Armor EPs, not a follow-up.

She wrote every song and played every instrument herself, at home in Nashville during lockdown, with Daniel James producing. It was going to be called Descansos, after the roadside memorials, an idea she got from Women Who Run with the Wolves. Then she found "flowers for vases" on a grocery list in her phone. The cover was shot in a jacuzzi she bought in quarantine. Classic.

My Limb came out first, sort of. On January 28 she handed a CD of it to a fan and told them they could leak it, and she mailed doll limbs to fans with a note that said "plant me". Good Grief and Descansos use audio from VHS tapes of her first Halloween, and that's her great-grandmother singing at the end of Good Grief. Inordinary goes back to 2002, when she and her mom left an abusive stepfather and moved to Nashville.

Find Me Here first showed up on Petals for Armor: Self-Serenades a couple of months before. Fourteen songs, about three minutes. It's the quickest sort here, but not the easiest.
