Smile Song Sorter

About Smile

Smile dropped on August 28, 2020, three years after Witness. It was due on August 14, but she pushed it back two weeks in July. She's talked openly about a depressive stretch after Witness underperformed, and about how gratitude got her through. She revealed her pregnancy in the Never Worn White video in March 2020, and it shaped the record too. Many of the songs were written while she was on the Witness tour.

Josh Abraham, Zedd, Stargate, Charlie Puth, Oscar Holter, Ilya and more produced. Never Really Over and Harleys In Hawaii came out in 2019, ahead of the album. Daisies was the lead single in May 2020 and reached number 40 on the Hot 100, then the title track Smile. Cry About It Later was released on release day, and What Makes A Woman as a promo before that.

It debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 with about 50,000 units. That broke her streak of number ones, but it did better than the reviews, which were mixed. Critics liked the lightness compared with Witness. The RIAA has certified it Gold.

The Deluxe track here is High On Your Supply, which was on a Target edition. Never Worn White and Small Talk, which were on the fan edition, are in Other Songs. With 13 songs it's the shortest album here, about three minutes.
