Witness Song Sorter

About Witness

Witness arrived on June 9, 2017, after a break from touring that she took to look after her mental health. She started writing in June 2016 and had more than 40 songs by the end of the year. She has said Hillary Clinton's loss that November was part of it, and she couldn't write a happy-go-lucky song afterwards. She called the result "purposeful pop", and it marked a departure from working with Dr. Luke.

Max Martin, Shellback, Ali Payami, Jeff Bhasker, Duke Dumont, Oscar Holter and Mike Will Made It all produced. Chained to the Rhythm with Skip Marley was the lead single and reached number 4 in the US. Bon Appetit with Migos and Swish Swish with Nicki Minaj followed, and Hey Hey Hey was released as a single in Italy in January 2018. Critics were split; it scored 53 on Metacritic. I think Power and Deja Vu are the ones that hold up best.

It still debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 with 180,000 units, her third number one album. To promote it she ran a four-day YouTube livestream, Witness World Wide, that ended with a concert on June 12. The Witness tour ran from September 2017 to August 2018.

Dance With the Devil and Act My Age are the Deluxe tracks. It's the biggest album here, 17 songs and about five minutes.
