About 5SOS5

5SOS5 is the album they made by themselves. After CALM they went independent with BMG, and after a late-2020 jam session that felt "refreshingly effortless," they booked a trip to Joshua Tree, most of it recorded at Michael's home studio. Michael produced - the first time a band member had - with Jon Bellion, John Feldmann and Jason Evigan. It came out on September 23, 2022. Luke said "in many ways, this album feels like the first one to me."

COMPLETE MESS is named for a fan-favourite T-shirt Luke wore, and it was the first song they wrote and produced entirely on their own. Take My Hand (Joshua Tree Version) includes a voice memo Luke recorded there, and he calls it the heart of the band. Older started in 2019 as a tribute to 1950s love songs, with Luke's partner Sierra Deaton singing, until Michael convinced them to finish it. Bad Omens was added late because they needed more tempo, with all four recording gang vocals in one room. BLENDER came out with no announcement after its live debut in Washington DC.

The standard edition is 14 tracks and all 19 are here. About five minutes.
