About Middle of Nowhere

Middle of Nowhere came out on May 1, 2026, her first album on the relaunched Lost Highway Records, and it's her Texas record. The title comes from a sign in Golden: "Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere." She'd grown up there without noticing it, and loved its quiet confidence. She also said she became fascinated by liminal space, "both geographical and emotional." She wrote it with Tashian and Fitchuk, and with Luke Laird, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, and she made it between Texas, Tennessee and Mexico, with pedal steel, accordion and Texas dancehall rhythms.

Dry Spell was the lead single, and she wanted humour back - "nobody does humor better than those guys." The promo billboards said "Dry Spell? Call for a Real Good Time" with a phone number, and there was an armadillo at Walmart. Horses and Divorces is the one everyone talked about: a duet with Miranda Lambert after years of not being friends, written with McAnally and sung at Gruene Hall with "tonight we bury the hatchet." Uncertain, TX has Willie Nelson, who recorded his verse in one take. Everybody Wants To Be A Cowboy, with Billy Strings, pokes fun at cosplay cowboys. Mexico Honey treats Mexico as a lover.

Thirteen songs, about three minutes.
