It came out on September 10, 2021, and she wrote about 40 songs, then recorded it in Nashville in under three weeks with Fitchuk and Tashian. There's a companion film on Paramount+ and a quote she gave the New York Times: she "wasn't going to be a real country artist without at least one divorce under my belt."

justified was the lead single, and she sang it on Saturday Night Live. camera roll is about the photos you keep - "we never take pictures of the bad times." breadwinner is a kiss-off to a partner who gets threatened by the woman earning more. hookup scene is about dating-app culture. there is a light, she says, "hits you over the head with happiness," a treat before the end. And gracias a la vida is a cover of Violeta Parra, which she's said she knew she had to record for the album.

The Recording Academy ruled it not country enough for its country categories, which sparked an argument, though camera roll stayed in. Fifteen songs, about four minutes.
