Conventional Weapons Song Sorter

About Conventional Weapons

These are the songs from the album that was almost their fourth. In 2009 they recorded a "straight-ahead rock 'n' roll record" with Brendan O'Brien at A&M Studios, with no story or characters. Gerard felt it had no vision, so they scrapped it and made Danger Days instead. Rob Cavallo said it sounded "like a band who had been in a car accident", which is harsh.

In late 2012 they put ten of the songs out two at a time, once a month, as singles called Number One to Number Five. Boy Division and Tomorrow's Money came first on October 30, 2012, and Surrender the Night and Burn Bright closed it out on February 5, 2013, along with a box set of all five. They didn't want it treated as a proper album, but here it gets ranked like one.

The World Is Ugly and The Light Behind Your Eyes are the power ballads, and Gun. is the power-pop one. Sputnikmusic's Raul Stanciu liked it more than Danger Days, which he called "horrid". Bold. A month after the last single, the band announced their breakup.

A lot of these weren't played live until the reunion tour. Boy Division and Surrender the Night got their live debut at the Eden Project in May 2022. Ten songs, about two minutes.
