About Danger Days
Danger Days dropped on November 22, 2010. After The Black Parade they made a stripped-down rock record with Brendan O'Brien - no concept, no characters, no costumes - then decided they didn't like it and shelved it in early 2010. They went back to Rob Cavallo, started over in Calabasas, and made a rock opera anyway. Bob Bryar left the band before it came out.
It's set in a post-apocalyptic California in 2019, where the "Killjoys" fight Better Living Industries and pirate DJ Dr. Death Defying narrates. In the videos the band are the Killjoys themselves: Party Poison, Jet-Star, Fun Ghoul and The Kobra Kid.
Bulletproof Heart, The Only Hope for Me Is You, Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back and Party Poison all came from the shelved sessions, and Party Poison used to be called "Death Before Disco". Ray calls S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W a psychedelic song, inspired by Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Vampire Money is their answer to being asked for a Twilight song. Sing got covered on Glee, and Planetary (GO!) ended up in Gran Turismo 5.
It sold 112,000 copies in its first week and debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200. In 2026 it finally went Platinum in the US and the UK.
The deluxe edition had We Don't Need Another Song About California and the Mad Gear and Missile Kid EP, and Zero Percent is on the 15th anniversary edition from July 2026. All five are in this sort, so it's 20 songs, about six minutes.
