About I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love

"Bullets" dropped on July 23, 2002, on Eyeball Records, less than a year after the band formed. Gerard wrote Skylines and Turnstiles about watching September 11 happen, and Cubicles goes back to "The Attic Demos", the first recordings they made in Matt Pelissier's attic.

Thursday's Geoff Rickly produced it at Nada Recording Studio in New Windsor, New York, in about a week and on practically no budget. All five of them and some of the crew shared one hotel room. Frank Iero joined a couple of days before they started, so he only plays on two songs, Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us and Early Sunsets over Monroeville.

Gerard wrote the songs like short stories, and Rickly told him to think of it like making a comic book. Early Sunsets over Monroeville is inspired by Dawn of the Dead. Headfirst for Halos started as a joke song, and it turned out to be a blueprint for everything that came next. Demolition Lovers closes it at about six minutes, and its two lovers carry on into Three Cheers.

Hardly anyone noticed it at first. Frank has said the original pressing was only 100 copies, and a lot of those were misprints full of mariachi songs. Vampires Will Never Hurt You got it on college radio, and by 2007 it was Gold in the UK.

Eleven songs, about two minutes.
