Blonde Song Sorter

About Blonde

Blonde dropped on 20 August 2016, the day after Endless, as an Apple Music and iTunes exclusive he released himself. It had been called Boys Don't Cry for most of the wait, and it's also known as Blond, without the e. The same weekend he ran pop-up shops in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and London giving away a magazine called Boys Don't Cry, with a CD of the album inside.

He made it from 2013 to 2016 at Electric Lady in New York, Abbey Road in London and Henson in Los Angeles. Beyoncé sings backing vocals on Pink + White, André 3000 has the verse on Solo (Reprise), and Jonny Greenwood did the strings on Seigfried. James Blake produced Solo and Godspeed, Rostam made Ivy, and Tyler co-wrote Skyline To. White Ferrari borrows from the Beatles' Here, There and Everywhere.

And then there's Nights. The beat switches at 3:30, which lands at about the halfway point of the whole album. Self Control and White Ferrari are the ones I'd bet go furthest, with Godspeed not far behind. Bring tissues.

It debuted at number one in the US and the UK, the third-biggest debut of 2016 on the Billboard 200. He didn't submit it for the Grammys, saying the institution didn't seem to represent people who come from where he comes from. Pitchfork named it the best album of the 2010s, and Rolling Stone put it third on its 2025 list of the greatest albums of the century so far.

It's 17 songs and about five minutes. Endless is the companion piece if you want both halves of that weekend.
