channel ORANGE Song Sorter

About channel ORANGE

channel ORANGE dropped on 10 July 2012, a week early on iTunes to get ahead of leaks. Six days before, he posted an open letter on Tumblr saying his first love was a man. He'd written it for the album's liner notes. The night before release he played Bad Religion on Jimmy Fallon.

He wrote it with Malay, who co-produced, and Om'Mas Keith helped rework the songs. Most of it was recorded at EastWest in Hollywood. Pharrell co-wrote and co-produced Sweet Life, Earl Sweatshirt raps on Super Rich Kids, and André 3000 recorded his Pink Matter verse alone and played guitar on it too. John Mayer plays on White and Pyramids.

Thinkin Bout You started out as a song for Bridget Kelly, and it became his highest-charting single, peaking at number 32. Pyramids runs nearly ten minutes and goes from Cleopatra to a strip club called the Pyramid. Crack Rock comes from the stories he heard at the Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings his grandfather took him to. Bad Religion, with its strings, is the one that gets me every time.

It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with 131,000 copies, almost all of them digital. At the 2013 Grammys it won Best Urban Contemporary Album and was up for Album of the Year, and he'd only perform if he could play Forrest Gump. Classic. Pazz & Jop and HMV's Poll of Polls both named it the best album of 2012.

It's 17 songs and about five minutes. Do Blonde next and settle which album is the better one. Good luck.
