About the Trying soundtrack

Trying is the Apple TV+ comedy about Nikki and Jason, a couple who really want to be parents, and the second season started on 21 May 2021 with Maisie's soundtrack. The show had used Favourite Ex in season one, and they stayed in touch. Then they asked her to write the songs for season two.

She called it "a fever dream." She read all the scripts, spoke to the director at length and watched season one, then wrote it with Joe Rubel in about two months. Milhouse was the first song they did, for the second episode.

It's nine songs of soft folk pop, and three of them have guests. James Bay is on Funeral, which came out first, Griff is on Happy Hunting Ground and Bear's Den are on I Want You to Change (Because You Want to Change). Neck of the Woods was nominated for Best Original Song in a TV show at the 2021 Hollywood Music in Media Awards.

It's a soundtrack, so it gets forgotten next to the albums, but it really shouldn't. Nine songs, about two minutes.
