About Buzz
Buzz dropped on August 9, 2024, after the Nicole World Tour. She named it after the spring buzz in her garden, with the bees and everything starting to grow. In her words, "it feels like I'm on the precipice of something about to happen." She's also said she went through an identity crisis making it.
A lot of it was written on tour. She wrote the title track on her phone at a boarding gate in Vancouver, and Strong Girl while driving through Maryland, then recorded it at a Holiday Inn. Ethan Gruska and Tyler Chester produced with her, and she called Joni Mitchell her "songwriting north star."
Too Much Of A Good Thing was the first single, and Blue Moon came next. She wrote Blue Moon on the 2023 tour after a four-year relationship ended, and called it a "right person, wrong time" story. Rob Moose did the strings, and the video is inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Tsunami, the third single, is about being on the edge of falling headfirst for someone.
NME's Rhian Daly said it "solidifies NIKI's place as one of music's most incisive songwriters right now." It got her onto the UK album sales chart, and the Buzz World Tour was her biggest yet.
Thirteen songs, about three minutes. It's the biggest album sort here.
