About wanna take this downtown?
wanna take this downtown? dropped on May 17, 2019. NIKI's mother died of cancer that February, after a year and a half of illness, and this light, peppy EP came out three months later. She's said putting out something lighter really helped her.
It wasn't meant to be an EP at all. She planned to release lowkey on its own in April, then wrote urs the week after, and the rest followed. lowkey is about keeping a new relationship to yourselves, urs is about one that only goes one way, and move! is about someone who gives you a rush. John Hill is one of the producers.
She said it was "the type of music and songwriting I've always admired but never felt like I could personally make." lowkey turned out to be one of her biggest songs, and it went top 40 in several Asian countries.
Four songs and about eleven minutes long, so this sort takes less than a minute. Short and sweet.
