About Problématique

Problématique was supposed to be her debut. She recorded it in 2020 and 2021, sifting through about 80 songs, and it was inspired by French house - you can hear it straight away in Je T'Adore. Then in 2022 the label put Feed The Beast first, and in August that year part of Problématique leaked. "It was shocking when I found out part of the album leaked - at the time - that it wasn't ever going to come out," she told NBC News.

Bunheads didn't let it go, and on September 18, 2023, she surprise-released it, "by fan demand", right before her tour. "It's just so freeing," she said. Dr. Luke, Aaron Joseph and Vaughn Oliver produced it, and Paris Hilton is on All She Wants, which feels like a reunion - Paris was in the I Don't Want It At All video back in 2017.

A couple of songs went missing on the way. Future Starts Now was meant to be the lead single, and Coconuts and Hit It From The Back ended up on Feed The Beast. What's left is ten songs and about half an hour of dance-floor Kim, and I think it's the best thing she made in those years.

Ten songs, about two minutes. Justice for the shelved album.
