K-12 Song Sorter

About K-12

K-12 dropped on September 6, 2019, and it came with a film. She wrote it, co-directed it and starred in it, and she learned to write a screenplay "off YouTube tutorials". It was shot over 31 days in Hungary, played in cinemas for one night only, and then went up on YouTube for free. Cry Baby goes to K-12 Sleepaway School, and she and her best friend Angelita use their powers to bring the place down. "School is an analogy for life on earth," she said.

She started writing it in 2015, and by 2019 she said it had "been done for like two and a half years." Michael Keenan co-wrote and produced almost all of it. Emily Warren co-wrote Wheels on the Bus, Strawberry Shortcake and Recess, Justin Tranter co-wrote Nurse's Office, and Kinetics & One Love came back for Drama Club.

Every song is a scene. Wheels on the Bus is bullying on the bus, The Principal is the principal drugging his students, Orange Juice is Cry Baby telling her friend Fleur to love herself, and in Recess the whole school comes down. Nurse's Office is "one of [my] favorites that [I've] ever written." No singles came out first - just weekly "assignments", snippets with little animated videos.

It debuted at number three with 57,000 units and went platinum in 2024.

Thirteen songs, about three minutes. For more of the school year, there's After School.
