About Clancy
Clancy dropped on May 24, 2024, and it's the one where the story came back. In February, red tape started appearing over their old album covers on streaming services, and then the I Am Clancy video recapped the whole lore. Clancy was "returning to Trench". The album was pushed back a week so that every single song could have a music video.
Tyler and Paul Meany made it together, and a lot of it started on baritone ukulele. It's full of callbacks. Overcompensate, the first song they finished, brings back Bandito. Routines In The Night nods to The Run and Go, Vignette is a straight homage to Trench, and Snap Back calls back to Heavydirtysoul.
Next Semester is "about a panic attack [he had] in college". Josh directed the Backslide video, his first time directing. Midwest Indigo is a love letter to Ohio and the Midwest, and The Craving (Jenna's version) is the ukulele version of his fourth love song to Jenna since 2015. Paladin Strait ends it on a cliffhanger, and its video set up everything that happened on Breach.
It went to number three with 143,000 units, the biggest rock sales week of 2024, and number one in Australia and Germany. It won Favorite Rock Album at the 2025 AMAs.
Thirteen songs, about three minutes.
