About Moral of the Story: Chapter 1

Chapter 1 dropped on April 5, 2019, with FINNEAS as executive producer. The two had reconnected over coffee earlier that year, and she played him her demos in her car. Noah Conrad and Leroy Clampitt produced alongside him.

Moral of the Story came out first, on Valentine's Day. She walked into her first session with Casey Smith and Noah Conrad and told them she'd just filed for divorce. They said to write about it, and the piano and vocal came together that day. Billie Eilish suggested one word in it, uncredited, and Ashe says it's her favourite lyric in the song.

A year later Lara Jean sang it in Netflix's To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You, and everything changed. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 71, her first time on the chart, and it's gone gold in the US and platinum in the UK. That June she put out a new version with Niall Horan, which you'll find as the bonus track on Ashlyn.

The EP reached number 157 on the Billboard 200. Four songs, under a minute. Bachelorette is the deep cut.
