About The Rabbit Hole

The Rabbit Hole dropped on June 22, 2018, on Mom + Pop, a year after her solo debut Used To It. The title comes from a line in the opener, After Life, and she built the whole EP around the idea of falling into "a whole other universe".

She called it "weird as hell", and she wasn't wrong. There are Gatsby trumpets, whistles and orchestral arrangements under songs about anxiety and the critic in your head, and most of the sad ones are dressed up as upbeat. "I love writing when I'm sad," she said at the time.

Choirs is about the voices (or choirs) in your head, though she insists it's a fun song, not a sad one. Real Love was the centrepiece for her. We Get High is built on a sample of Ella Fitzgerald's When I Get Low, I Get High - she fell for Ella at Berklee, and it's her tribute. And Wrong Side of Myself came out of her very first session with FINNEAS, in 2017, after the two of them met at a crosswalk. Look how that turned out.

Seven songs, about a minute. I'd start with We Get High.
